1.5 Million Students Reached
Huge news from Teach Access! In 2020, we set a goal to reach 1 million students about accessibility by 2030. We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve surpassed our initial goal almost five years early and have officially reached 1.5 million students, and we aren’t stopping there! Reaching this milestone would not have been possible without our academic, industry, and nonprofit partners, and all the students who have shown such an appetite to learn and explore this important subject. We are genuinely grateful for the hard work and dedication of our community, and seek your continued support as we increase our momentum to ensure a future where technology can be born accessible for people with disabilities.

“We’re proud to hit this milestone so far ahead of schedule, but more importantly, we’re proud of how we did it, by providing completely free access to tools to teach accessibility education,” said Kate Sonka, Teach Access Executive Director. “As the demand for these skills grows, we remain committed to making this knowledge available to all students, everywhere.”

Celeste’s Accessibility Journey
Celeste, a theater major with a digital media minor, took a class led by a Teach Access Faculty Fellow focused on making media and performances more accessible. Inspired, she created an inclusive online art gallery for her final project, featuring audio descriptions, captions, and touchable art. Today, she’s a digital engagement coordinator at a major museum, ensuring exhibits are accessible both online and in person. One visitor, Tomás, a Deaf artist, shared that it was the first time he truly felt seen and included by a museum.

Raising $1.5 million for the next 1.5 million students
We need your support! To mark this milestone and power the next chapter, we’re launching a $1.5 million campaign so we can develop and scale our programs to reach the next 1.5 million students around the world. As we approach our 10th anniversary in 2026, your gift fuels global growth, deepens impact, and very importantly, keeps our programs and materials free for all. Join us in this critical effort to drive systemic change and educate future generations about accessibility!
Board Chair Challenge: Double Your Gift up to $15,000
Our Board Chair, Laura Allen, is leading the way for our $1.5 for 1.5 campaign! To show her deep belief in Teach Access and inspire our community, Laura is matching every gift, dollar for dollar, up to $15,000. That means your $50 becomes $100!

“This isn’t just a number, it’s 1.5 million students who are now more prepared to build a more inclusive digital future. This milestone shows what’s possible when educators, industry leaders, and advocates come together to close the accessibility gap. By reaching and exceeding this ambitious goal, we are by no means done; we plan to accelerate the momentum and reach many more millions of students around the world in the years to come.”
