CSUN Assistive Technology Conference Recap

Another busy CSUN ATC conference is behind us!

A big thank you to our co-presenters: Brissa Quiroz, Accessibility Education Director at Microsoft; Matt Janusaukas, Chief Technology & Programs Officer at the American Foundation for the Blind; and Kate O’Connor, VP of Onward Accessibility.

A special thanks to Fred Moltz, Chief Accessibility Officer at Verizon, for sponsoring our meetup. The room was packed and we were thrilled to connect with many friends and supporters in person.

If you missed CSUN ATC and are interested in a legal update on digital access for people with disabilities, check out Lainey Feingold’s Legal Update. Lainey covered U.S. legal updates on website, app, and kiosk accessibility, as well as relevant laws, regulations, lawsuits, negotiations, and government policies.

New Course on Microsoft MS Learn

We are excited to announce a new “Introduction to Inclusive Design in Practice” course in collaboration with Microsoft, now available for free on MS Learn. The course covers technical topics like keyboard accessibility, screen reader support, color contrast, and resize and reflow techniques. By addressing these foundational areas, the content aims to enhance accessibility education for developers, designers, and digital professionals seeking to build more inclusive products and services.

Teach Access by Design

This week, we kicked off the latest cohort of Teach Access by Design, in partnership with HETS (Hispanic Educational Technology Services)!

This cohort brings together over 180 educators and administrators from Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) across the U.S. and Puerto Rico.

Over the next three months, participants will learn more about disability, accessibility, and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) while gaining the tools and support to incorporate the principles of accessible design into their teaching and curricula.

Thanks to HETS’s Executive Director, Yubelkys Montalvo for supporting our work and making this collaboration a reality.
